Road freight insurance for trucked goods

Trucking is where most supply chains start and end — and where goods spend unguarded hours. Cover follows ICC (A), and the road legs of sea and air shipments are included.

What it covers

Physical loss or damage to goods in transit by road under ICC (A) all risks: collision, overturn, theft, fire, handling damage — warehouse to warehouse, including loading and unloading. Road transport law caps the carrier's liability at 8.33 SDR per kilo under the CMR Convention — a weight cap, not value. Context: carrier liability limits.

Who it's for

How it works

  1. Upload the commercial invoice or the transport document (CMR note or delivery note).
  2. Review the extracted details — goods, value, route — and the price.
  3. Approve and pay the licensed party directly; the certificate is issued instantly.

How much to insure for

The same CIF + 10% rule applies to road legs. Use the insured value calculator.

A note on 'cargo insurance for truckers'

Search results often mix two products: policies that protect the trucking company against cargo it hauls (a liability product), and policies that protect the goods owner. InsuCargo's product protects the goods owner. The distinction: freight vs cargo insurance.

Questions

Doesn't the truck's insurance already cover my goods?

The carrier's insurance answers for the carrier's liability — capped per kilo, with exclusions. It is not cover for the value of your goods. If the accident is the carrier's fault you may claim against it; if it isn't, you carry the loss without your own policy.

Is cross-border trucking covered?

Yes — cover follows the goods through the normal course of transit between countries, subject to policy terms and sanctions screening.

What about the last mile to the customer?

Parcels moving to consumers are covered under the e-commerce product: /courier-ecommerce-insurance.html.
